EDITORIAL
The Philippine Journal of Science in Philippine society
The basic gauge of a successful research effort is the publication of its findings in a peer-reviewed
journal. Careful scrutiny of experts is necessary so that the information that is disseminated to the
scientific community and the general public is original, novel, and significant enough to advance
our current knowledge of how nature works. A more accurate understanding of the physical world
is required in finding better solutions to the increasingly complex multidimensional challenges
that our country is facing today.
Peer-reviewed journals are vital in strengthening self-regulation in the scientific community, in
giving due credit to deserving researchers, and in training the future generation of scientists and
researchers. Critical reviews if taken with an open mind, often improve the presentation and
quality of a manuscript to the greater benefit of its authors. . . . . read more
