Copper Oxide as Mediator for the Amperometric Determination of Hydrogen Peroxide

Copper oxide (CuO) was investigated as a mediator for the amperometric determination of hydrogen peroxide. Screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) have been prepared with chemical modification by CuO. The basic electrochemical behaviour of these sensors was investigated and their ability for the detection of hydrogen peroxide was tested. The electrodes can be used as amperometric detectors in flow injection analysis (FIA) with working potentials of around –100 mV vs the reference electrode (Ag/AgCl/3M NaCl).
