About the Cover

The image shows live specimens of Actinopyga echinites (Jaeger, 1833), a sea cucumber species inhabiting the seagrass beds (Station 1) and algal flats (Station 2) of Cabgan Island in Barobo, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. On average, individuals in Station 2 had a lower population density but a greater length and weight compared to those in Station 1. Reportedly, the island’s population is still abundant, with habitat preferences and reproduction cycle possibly influencing their length and weight. Further studies could facilitate conservation and management efforts in the country for this commercially exploited species. To learn more, go to 1337–1347.
