About the Cover

The image shows Misythus echinatus perching on logs and fallen litter within the tropical forest of Mt. Malimumu in Central Mindanao, Philippines. Misythus is a diverse genus of pygmy grasshoppers with 27 species and two subspecies, all of which are endemic to the islands of the Philippines. M. echinatus, in particular, is endemic to northern Mindanao and its adjacent islands (Siargao Island, Bucas Island, Surigao, Iligan, and Butuan). A recently updated record of the species includes detailed measurements of male and female specimens, as well as new data on its expanded distribution in Bukidnon and Davao regions.
