About the Cover
The 3D image depicts a blockage at the horizontal segment of the left middle cerebral artery (MCA) of a 30-year-old male, who lost consciousness after serving as a ceremonial guard for four straight days. The condition is indicative of a “twig-like” anomaly, which is thought to be caused by a failed fusion of the plexiform network of arteries in the forebrain. Twig-like MCA, although presented with occasional headaches relieved by pain medications in the case subject, could lead to worse outcomes such as brain hemorrhages due to its association with ruptured aneurysms.
