About the Cover
The photo portrays a selection of reptile species found within the vicinity of the Bulusan Volcano Natural Park in the Philippines’ Bicol region. In a major leap for local herpetofauna documentation, the incorporative visual encounter survey was able to provide baseline data on the identities of extant amphibians and reptiles in the area. The study covered 26 species belonging to 24 genera in 14 families, including eight frog, ten lizard, and eight snake species. Among those covered are snake species Aplopeltura boa (I), Boiga drapiezii (G), and Tropidolaemus subannulatus (J). Further studies of this type are expected to raise the likelihood of encountering novel endemic species in other protected areas of the country. To learn more, go to page 339-351.
